Southern Cross Observatory -
cameras & lenses  - modified Canon 350D
 
   
Canon 350D after modification. Hot filter removed and a Baader UVFIR Cut enhanced transmission installed + the Peltier regulated cooler system. With end plate in place, camera can be used for normal photography.


 
 
 Removing end plate allows for attachment of the fan cooler unit, heat sink and external electronic controls 



 
Temperature probe reads sensor temp and external temp.
 



All camera controls are accessed via the fan forced cooler unit.

 



Fan speed and cooling is adjustable as well as anti dew system.

Cooler unit fitted to body ready for astro or other long exposure use.


 
Camera can be used with lenses or scope adaptor. Remote electronic control with Canon unit or PC with serial cable, Viewfinder magnifier aids in focusing.




Daylight shot with modified camera using the kit zoom lens at 30mm hand held (shaky), bird about 10 feet away from me. It was perched on the astro workshop power line, a good lizard hunting place. 18% Grey Card white balance and exposure compensation -1.5 approx.
