Brett Kitchener has been an active amateur astronomer for over 30 years, firstly in Queensland and since the late 1980's here in Hobart.
As a council member of the Astononical Association of Queensland,
he has been involved with organising observing nights for members,
for schools andfor the general public. He was editor of the AAQ's
"Newsletter" for a number of years. His astronomical interests are
many and varied - variable star observing, lunar occultation timing,
mutual phenomena of the Jupiter's moons, deep sky observing, astrophotography
and eclipse chasing. The eclipse in Ceduna was his sixth eclipse expedition.
Brett uses small portable telescopes to observe from dark sites
even though his home site south of Hobart would be the envy of many.
